Hands-on Fishing Seminar and Rodeo

Captain Shannon Clark

Shannon became part of competitive redfishing when she teamed up with husband Rennie
Clark. She fishes competitively as well as fishes with Rennie and their daughters during their
free time.

Hands-on Fishing Seminar and Rodeo
Kids ages 6-12 are invited to the seminar and rodeo to be held each day at 2:00 pm, starting with a 30
minute seminar that teaches fishing basics and safety. The topics will include: Casting, Hook safety, Setting the hook, How to real a caught fish, How to bait a hook, and more.
After the seminar, kids will be invited to fish in the Cape Fear river courtesy of a joint effort of the Cape Fear Power Squadron and the Got-Em-On Fishing Club of Carolina Beach. Captain Shannon Clark, well known competitor of the IFA Redfishing Tour will be the instructor and she will be assisted by members of the Coastal Carolina Fisherman e-Magazine Staff. All the needed fishing tackle and lures will be provided and the event is free of charge, courtesy of the Wilmington Boat Show. All children must be accompanied by an adult. As a special treat, each child will receive a Free Rod and Reel. Each day’s seminar will be limited to the first 100 kids.

Captain Eris Jones

Captain Eris Jones is a lifelong North Carolina native. A few years ago Eris left his career as an E.M.T. and plunged head first into his fishing career. In 2015 he won the SKA National Championship. Today he is one of the most well known seminar speakers in the Carolinas and operates “Backlash Fishing Charters” from Sneads Ferry, NC while competing on multiple Kingfishing circuits.

Captain Amanda King

Captain Amanda King is an expert fishing guide out of Carolina Beach, NC. She comes armed with a degree in Marine Sciences and years of competitive fishing history. She owns and operates “Second Wind Charters” and specializes in light tackle fishing.  Amanda is a well known speaker with Coastal Carolina Fisherman seminars and other events, making her the most recognized female speaker in the Carolinas.

Captain Lee Parsons

Captain Lee Parsons is one of the true “Legends of Saltwater Fishing” with over 50 years of fishing experience. A Wilmington, NC Native, he is among the most sought after fishing guides in both Carolinas. He is an expert in light tackle fishing and a well known seminar speaker due to his knowledge of Redfish, Speckled Trout and Flounder fishing.

Captain Rennie Clark

Captain Rennie Clark is a well known Carolina’s fishing guide and competitor and winner on the Elite Redfish Tournament Trail. He is also the host of his own fishing podcast. In May of 2018, Rennie became the host of “The Coastal Carolina Fishing Experience” fishing show. He is also one of the most active and sought after speakers and seminar instructors in the Carolinas.

Captain Mike Oppegaard

Captain Mike Oppegaard comes from a long line of fisherman. He operates “Native Son Guide Service” located at Topsail, NC. He is one of the most active guides in the Topsail area and specializes in a wide range of fishing, from light tackle inshore fishing to nearshore trolling.

Captain Rod Bierstedt

Captain Rod Bierstedt is well known in the Carolinas, not only for his fishing expertise, but also for his detailed offshore fishing seminars. He has a large seminar following and is known for giving the attendees a fantastic presentation with his over 50 years of experience. Rod is the owner of “OnMyWay Charters” of Carolina Beach that features offshore fishing options.

Captain Tim Wilson

Tim is writer, founder and publisher of Coastal Carolina Fisherman e-Magazine. For a number of years he operated an inshore guide service out of Carolina and Wrightsville Beach, NC. He also served as the regional editor of Sportfishing Magazine. He is a well known boating and fishing expert with over 20 years experience.

Captain Ray Dixon

Captain Ray Dixon is one of the Carolina’s up and coming fishing guides. He specializes in light tackle fishing along the Cape Fear coast and Carolina Beach. He brings the knowledge of new fishing techniques and strategies to the fishing table with a dose of traditional saltwater fishing knowledge. His target species are Speckled Trout, Redfish and Flounder being his favorite.

Dan Malone

Dan is a marine electronics specialist with Bellhart Marine of Wilmington, NC . He will provide great information on the latest in fishing electronics and how the angler can better utilize their electronics to locate and catch more and bigger fish.

Matt Gentry

As the manager or Wilmington North Carolina’s, Tex’s Tackle, Matt is an avid and long-time angler that
specializes in the knowledge of today’s most effective saltwater fishing tackle. He will provide
information on the latest tackle trends and innovations for the saltwater angler and will discuss this
year’s latest and greatest in lures, rods, reels and more.

Two of a Kind

Jolly Mon Jams

Jolly Mon Jams based in Wilmington NC, is a steel drum performer with 40 years of music experience. Bill Willetts starting off with brass instruments in high school and college and has honorary seats with the McDonalds All Star Band and the US Navy Band. He is self-taught on the steel drums, “pans” as they are called in the Caribbean, which has long been one of his passions. Today they incorporate “tropical rock” music into their performances like Buffett, Chesney, Zac Brown and even some Beatles and Bob Dylan for good measure! Jolly Mon got its name from a Caribbean folk tale of a musician in the islands that drowned but was saved by dolphins to continue to bring happy music to the people.

Broccoli Brothers Circus

The Broccoli Brothers Duo is a family-friendly musical performance group from Wilmington, NC. They are actually 2 of the founding members of the legendary group “Broccoli Brothers Circus”. This dynamic duo plays original songs with a variety of positive and fun subject matter, such as eating your vegetables, healthy habits, etc. Not only do they wear broccoli costumes… they also have special appearances from some cool puppet characters. These guys provide good clean fun for the whole family.

 Captain Jack and his ladies will be setting their course for the Wilmington Boat Show! Come out and see Captain Jack Sparrow, Anne Bonny, and Mary Read as they make Jacksonville their port for the weekend! Hold on to your wallets, hide the rum, and keep your wenches close as you take pictures with Captain Jack and his crew. There will be lots of pillaging, plundering, and perhaps a hijacking or two! Mark your calendars and set sail for the Wilmington Boat Show! See you there, mates!
